Overview

Nestled in the heart of West Sacramento, Mr. Burrito offers an authentic Mexican dining experience that captures the vibrant flavors of the region. Located conveniently on Sacramento Avenue, this family-owned restaurant stands out for its dedication to quality and heartwarming hospitality.

Their menu strikes a harmonious balance between traditional and inventive Mexican fare, with true highlights like the pupusas and the Burrito de Desayuno (Breakfast Burrito). The pupusas, a savory Salvadoran staple often missed in many Mexican spots, come perfectly crisped on the outside, melting with cheesy, savory fillings inside. It’s a crowd favorite that keeps guests coming back for more.

The breakfast burrito at Mr. Burrito is another standout, praised for its generous portions and fresh ingredients that create a flavorful start to the day. Beyond that, the restaurant’s tacos, especially the carne asada and pollo varieties, boast a freshness and seasoning that evoke the feeling of street-side taquerías. Adding a squeeze of lime enhances each bite, highlighting the bold yet clean flavor profile.

While the place offers a variety of sides such as rice, beans, and even loaded carne asada fries, it’s the savory tortas and the substantial plates that round out the menu with satisfying depth and texture. The food comes in hearty servings, ideal for those with a bigger appetite or looking to share.

Mr. Burrito’s evolving dining space and extended hours reflect its growing appeal in the community. From a casual outdoor seating area perfect for sunny afternoons to a lively taco stand open late into the night, the restaurant embraces a welcoming, informal atmosphere. The staff, known for their friendliness and genuine engagement—like Benito and Sharai—enhance the dining experience, making visitors feel at home.

Mr. Burrito serves a diverse crowd—from local families seeking a cozy meal, to late-night diners craving flavorful tacos and pupusas. Vegetarian options also suggest thoughtful menu inclusivity. Despite some early growing pains with service speed and menu layout, the overall experience remains warm and rewarding.

For anyone exploring Mexican and Salvadoran cuisine in West Sacramento, Mr. Burrito is a must-visit destination. It’s a place where passion for food and community shines through every dish and every smile, promising both comfort and excitement with every visit.

Hands down one of the best taco and pupusa spots in West Sac! I wasn’t expecting much at first, but wow the flavor blew me away. Their tacos are top-tier, and the sauce they serve is next level. You can taste the freshness and love in every bite. The pupusas are also perfectly done — crispy outside, cheesy and savory inside. Shoutout to Benito, who made the experience even better with his cheerful attitude and awesome personality. Super friendly, genuine, and easy to talk to makes you feel right at home. I have been coming back to this spot for the past eight months now their family pack for the tacos is perfect for late night. If you’re in the area, don’t sleep on this place. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Love the work that they're putting into this place. Added a new dining location and opened up their hours. The pupusas are a must try. They also added a taco stand after 5 pm that is usually open until midnight! Very good tacos, and burritos.

My wife and I come here for the delicious pupusas - if you’ve never had one try them out! Family owned and the service is so lovely and sweet. You can order to go or eat at their outdoor tables. Good vegetarian options if you’re looking for that! One of those places where you know your money is supporting a locally owned, hard working small business.

At first I was a bit skeptical with the location but I've seen some improvement, with a sitting area now available. There's a main menu and then more menus around the menus so it was a bit confusing. So glad to have a pupusería in West Sacramento. The pupusas are good (especially the bean and cheese). My husband had their carne asada burrito. They are a really good serving size (and he has a big appetite). The wait time was much longer than expected (about 25-30 min). Door dash was also showing the restaurant as close even though it was open. Their flautas were also really good. We'll be coming back to try more things on their menu.

We had Pupusas, Burritos & Agua de Jamaica & I give 5 stars for those items. This was our 1st visit, enjoyed the food & will return. I did wait about 10 minutes, but was told upfront they were short staffed so I did appreciate that & didnt mind. 11/17/24 - Ordered Caldo de Gallina (Chicken Soup) it was delicious! It's a whole meal! It comes with the soup broth w/vegetables, 2 homemade tortillas, a piece of fried chicken, rice & a salad. UPDATE 3: We came again & had a Carne Asada Burrito, Caldo de Pollo (chicken soup), Pupusas, Jamaica & Horchata. Everything was delicious! It was so good we forgot to get pictures... next time! 2/9/25 - Made a pit stop to try their Sunday Cheeseburger Meal. It came with a Cheeseburger, Fries & Drink. The burger was big for me & I couldn't finish it.. just had a few bites left. It was very good, good seasoning & hit the spot!
